Luxury Senior Living Community Recognized for Innovative, Purpose-Driven Design
Belmont Village Fort Lauderdale, a new luxury senior living community, has been selec ted by the South Florida Business Journal as a 2020 Structures Awards honoree in the Best Architecture & Design category.
Now in its 5th year, the prestigious Structure Awards program recognizes South Florida’s top-of-class projects, deals and dealmakers in real estate among 15 unique categories. Winners in each category were announced live on November 19 during a Virtual Awards program. Belmont Village, honored as one of the top three projects in its category, was the only seniors housing community to be recognized.
Other finalists included Eighty Seven Park – Terra and Residences by Armani/Casa – Dezer Development, with Residences by Armani winning the category.
“We are so honored to have been selected as a finalist for this prestigious design and architecture award, out of the many exceptional new developments in the region. My congratulations to the other two finalists and to the Residences team,” said Patricia Will, Belmont Village Founder and CEO. “It’s always a proud moment when one of our buildings is recognized, but we’re especially pleased to have our first South Florida community acknowledged in this way.”
Located at 1031 Seminole Drive, Belmont Village Fort Lauderdale is the 31st community for award-winning Belmont Village Senior Living, a nationally recognized developer, owner and operator of high quality seniors housing.
The senior living community was transformed from a 1.2 acre parking lot into a striking 12-story luxury high rise that is carefully positioned to optimize views and embrace the style, culture and beauty of Fort Lauderdale, architecturally and programmatically, while creating a rich and vibrant community where seniors can be active, socially engaged, and thrive.
Designed by architects Huitt-Zollars, Inc. with landscaping by Architectural Alliance, Belmont Village Fort Lauderdale offers a bright, airy resort-style look and feel within an amenity-rich and socially focused setting – incorporating resident engagement and wellness into all aspects of the design. Contemporary architectural elements and lush landscaping pay homage to the tropical region that surrounds the property and encompasses a rich variety of outdoor spaces, accessible throughout the building, to allow easy flow from the inside. Additionally, interior spaces are well-positioned to bring the best of the outside in, through strategic placement and generous window design.
Expansive common areas make up more than 50 percent of the building, with amenities strategically distributed throughout the community to encourage social interaction and activity. This wealth of open space both indoors and out, a signature programmatic design element for the company, also means that residents are able to continue to participate in small group activities, with safe social distancing, to maintain socialization throughout the pandemic.
“A lot of thought goes into the design of our buildings to include a wide range of socialization opportunities and purposeful spaces that anticipate resident needs for interaction and engagement, which are so imp
ortant to health and wellness,” said Will. “Since the pandemic, that richness of space has been a tremendous benefit for our residents and their families.”
Community features include an expansive amenity deck and open air pool, ample shaded loggias, terraced gardens in the sky, and magnificent views of the Intracoastal Waterway, Atlantic Ocean, and the downtown Fort Lauderdale skyline for virtually every unit.
Throughout the thoughtfully designed building, Coastal themes and marine life are used to complement the décor and as a way finding technique to assist residents in navigating the building safely and comfortably. The building showcases Floridian-inspired art work produced by local artists to complement the overall design of the community and lend to great conversation between residents and guests.
