“I was born in a fairly small town in Hungary and was the second youngest of six children. We came to the U.S. after World War I for better opportunities. I was only five years old when I left so I never learned to read or write in Hungarian but some of the traditional folk songs have stuck with me. I went on to be the valedictorian of my high school. I attended a teacher’s college and an engineering school, where I met my husband. We were married for 73 years until he passed just shy of his 100th birthday. I credit my long life to my husband and children.”
